Adult film licences

'X 18+' is a classification for films containing sexually explicit content for viewing by adults only.

An X 18+ film licence is issued to a specific premise. In the ACT those locations are Fyshwick, Mitchell and Hume.

Apply for an X 18+ film licence

Individuals, partnerships and corporations can apply for an X 18+ film licence.

You can choose from a 1-year or 3-year licence, and choose to pay in full or in quarterly instalments.

Use the Adult Entertainment Industry application form.
Upload 2 current proof of identity documents for all applicants. One needs to include a photograph of the applicant.
Provide your building and street address in the suburbs of Fyshwick, Mitchell or Hume.
Complete the declaration that you/your partner have not committed certain offences and are not undischarged bankrupts.
Pay the fee.

Applying as a corporation

Use the Adult Entertainment Industry application form.
Upload:
- a company police certificate issued by the Australian Federal Police (issued within 30 days of applying)
- a current company extract issued by ASIC (issued within 30 days of applying).
- for each company director, 2 current proof of identity documents including one with a photograph.
Provide your building and street address in the suburbs of Fyshwick, Mitchell or Hume.
Complete the declaration that you/other directors have not committed certain offences and are not undischarged bankrupts.
Pay the fee.

Once approved, your licence will be emailed to you and listed in the X 18+ film licence public register.

If you chose to pay for your licence in instalments, use the X 18+ Films Quarterly Payment form to make payments.
